If I had a choice between 4k30fps and 1080p60fps, I'd most likely chose the 1080p resolution. I like smooth framerates more than anything.
Yes this can be set in settings if not automatically detected.
HDMI 1.4 supports max 4K@30Hz HDMI 2.0 supports max 4K@60Hz
Why someone would want to run a user interface at a slow 30fps when they could get a fluid 60fps makes no sense to me.
Besides modern 4K TV's have superior 1080>4K picture upscaling hardware vs cheap media players if they are set to output everything at 4K.
Why compromise on picture quality when the majority of content is 1080p ?
Use 1080p@60Hz would be my suggestion.
