Issues playing YouTube or Spotify using GH on the Mi Box S

by allcracked

Hello people,

I recently received my Google Home Mini and my Mi Box S. All the setup process went great and I got them hooked up together. However, when I try to send a command to the Mini like: "Play tech videos on YouTube on Bedroom TV", the mini will acknowledge the command and right after, it will tell me that something went wrong and give it another try, while all this happens, nothing changes on the TV. Something similar happens using Spotify, if I request the Mini to play something on the TV, it will acknowledge the command and won't show any errors on the Mini, it will open the app on the TV, play 9 seconds of any song (it's always just 9 seconds, never less, never more) and then it will show a Connection Error and will quit the app on the TV (as shown in the picture above).

The weird thing is that if I request the Mini to: "Play Breaking Bad on Bedroom TV", it will open the Netflix app and start playing the show without any kind of issue.

I have spoken to Google Support but they were not able to figure this out, I consider myself somewhat knowledgeable on these kind of situations, but frankly, I'm lost here and a needed to reach out for advise, I have reset both devices multiple times, but that doesn't help. Any ideas? Thanks a lot.

I don't think Android TV is optimised properly to work with Google home. Whenever I use it to send things to my Chromecast it works almost flawlessly. Even though the mi box does have cast support I feel there there is something not right on the software side or hardware side for casting to work as well as it does on the Chromecast. I had similar issues on my nexus player.

I have the same issues on the old Mibox and was hoping that the S will solve them, but... GH has no problem to do those things on my Chromecast so its a functionality gap or the apps/GH need updating?

Same problem here! Anyone found a solution?
