Desktop-like browser?

by smallaubergine

Hey all,

New to Android TV (Nvidia shield TV), and am looking to find a good web browser. I have a Logitech wireless keyboard/track pad so I'd like to run a browser that provides a more desktop like experience. I've tried sideloading Firefox (tv version) and Samsung browser and don't like the experience much. They both run in giant mode where everything is scaled up. Is there any way to force them or another browser (chrome) to do what I want? I'm replacing my home theater PC and that's the one major thing I miss.

What do you guys use a browser for? It seems borderline unusable to me.

For apks I recommend cetus play. You can download the apk on your phone and send it to your box through the app. I also recommend an air mouse if you wish to use a browser. I bought one from wechip and it works borderline great. Having an air mouse is much more easier as compared to a regular mouse as you can use it from anywhere.

I've been vacationing and have just been remote accessing my windows server at home on my fire stick. I tried getting that desktop feel too and never quite achieved it. If you have a lone machine on somewhere you might consider this. Also you might be able to access a near free commercial remote machine.

Tell google to "Install Chrome" and it will, despite it not being visible in the store.
