Prime app quits if video paused for too long

by shield_doodle

Hi, I have an Nvidia Shield with the latest firmware.

For as long as I have had it, the Amazon Prime video app quits after a video is paused for too long - like maybe 1 minute or so.

This is really frustrating, because other video streaming apps like Netflix etc just go to the video introduction page, or app home page.

Is this a Prime problem? Is it fixable?

I experience the same. But for me the issue occurs when the video is paused and the screen saver on the shield starts. In order to not go crazy I set my screen saver to start after a longer period, 10mins I think.

I'm not aware of any fix. I assume it's a bug with the prime video app.

Uh, just started The Grand Tour, paused it. Set a timer for 2 minutes, it's still there.

Maybe try clearing the application data/cache, how about your Screen Saver settings?

Settings --> Screen Saver

  1. Put device to sleep has a minimum of 5 minutes, but I assume that'd do it. I have it set to 1 hour.
  2. When to start I have this set to 5 minutes of inactivity, and yes, it will turn on if I have Amazon Prime (or other media players) paused, but if I press the play (select) button when screen saver is on it pops me right back into the app.

The same, when happens the screensaver it kills the app. It's the only one who does this, maybe it does some check for "concurrent apps" running and kills itself (for example, screen recording apps detection)
