Using bluetooth dongle on a box that doesn't have built in bluetooth?

by Baileafs

Hey guys,

I found out too late that the box I bought didnt have bluetooth hardware. I ordered a dongle online thinking that i could just plug it in and go, but the box isn't reading it when I plug it into the USB port. I've been googling for hours and can't seem to find a solution or anything saying what I want to do can't be done.

Is there anything I can do to make this work, or am I out of luck here?

Thanks in advance!

Doesn't sound like an official Android TV device. I think they all support bt out of the box.

I'm not aware of any Android TV devices that don't have Bluetooth. What make/model did you buy?

I've never heard of an Android TV device without Bluetooth (how would the remote control work?). Sure you didn't buy some cheap China box running regular Android?

I'm not 100% on this but I think you're out of luck. The way I understand it, the Bluetooth drivers or whatever they call it are pre-installed on android. It's not like Windows where it can just install the appropriate drivers. If they're missing from the get-go on android, you just can't use it.

Is the dongle Linux compatible?

Help I ordered cheap Chinese shit. I've since ordered more cheap shit to try to get the first cheap shit to work. Advice?
