Philips TV boot to launcher

by protimewarp

Hello!

I just got a Philips with inbuilt Android TV. Thanks to this post and uninstalling some apps I removed most of the philips bloatware.

However there is one quirk I wondered if anyone could help me with. When starting the TV it goes to regular TV mode. Since I will only use it for streaming I don't have any DVB connectivity and is met by a "No channels set up" warning.

Does anyone know if it is possible to boot straight to launcher instead? And skip seeing the regular tv functionality at all.

I tried Launch on boot to start an individual app on boot. However there seems to be no alternative for starting the launcher. Also it takes maybe 10 second for an app to start after tv startup.

Any ideas?

Yeah, I just leave mine on standby so it picks up where I left off when I hit the power button on the remote for pretty much this exact reason.

I have this issue, too, and it annoys me because I have my TV set to HDMI input and it always turns on my PS4. However, my TV remote has a Netflix button that goes directly into Netflix. So I press that and then the home button to avoid triggering the console.

Wow thank you so much for looking that two year old article about disabling Phillips recommendations. Now I feel kinda silly that I did not bother to search, because answer was right here. Thank you again!

Did you find any progress yet? Not so helpful but I remember Googling this several months ago and found a topic on Philips support with the answer that it isn't possible. Unfortunately I can't find that post anywhere when I search now.

Really late but.... I know some Philips tv's can be turned on with the home button. And if you do that it'll go to android tv directly. So try not using the power button but the home button to turn it on.

This sub is primarily those of us with Android TV streaming devices. There are tv posts as well, but with their being only two real android TV boxes and countless Tvs, support for your end is much less likely.

Usually your best case is someone informing you that you should have spent the money on TV picture quality and the remaining on a shield due to stability, speed, and updates.

Best of luck to you, buddy, but I think you're going to need a more specific help channel to have any chance at the tweak you're looking for.
