Stream mkv/mp4 from PC to MiBox 4?

by --justified--

Hi all,

as of now, I used to copy mkv/mp4 videos to my external drive, connect it to my TV and play it there (being able to use start/stop/pause buttons etc).

As I ordered a MiBox 4 with Chromecast capabilities I was wondering whether I could stream single video files from my PC to the MiBox? What I do NOT want to do is to mirror the whole PC screen to the MiBox because I couldn't use start/stop buttons on the MiBox remote. Hence I want to stream the video but really play the network stream on a native videoplayer app to be able to use the remote.

Any ideas? :) Thanks

Try Serviio ( free) as dnla server on your PC. On the box, Kodi or Archos player.

Bonus : you can control Serviio ( restart / update etc..) using "Serviidroid"

Emby works great too. There is an Android TV client and the PC server app is light weight. Easy to setup.

VLC can do that. It's in the options as renderer
