I prefer using this SPMC app instead of Kodi because it's built specifically for Android TV but have not updated my Shield TV for the last three updates since everything works great for me just and I have everything I want and didn't want to run the chance of screwing everything up. I'm considering updating the the most recent Android TV 7.2 update for some of the other features but wanted to know if anyone is still able to use SPMC 17.6 or specifically (SPMC 17.6a2) instead of Kodi? I can use Kodi but just prefer SPMC even though I know it's no longer maintained.
SPMC changes have been merged into Kodi. There isn’t any real benefit from running it, and lack of future development will grow to be a problem with time. You should consider moving back to Kodi soon.
