Maybe if we install Button Mapper can emulate play/pause with home button in shell mode and activate it without the Android TV Remote installed in our phones... I’ll try it later.

PD: I try it without success. I found some thing I haven’t try it.
You can send keyevents using adb
adb shell input keyevent <keycode>
keycode for play - 126, pause - 127, play/pause - 85 (see Keyevent )
But you need a PC or Mac to send the commands and activate the options in the program to try if this gonna work, and I don’t have the time right now to do it. First needs to activate Developer Options in the Mi Box S.

I found a workaround.
It needs an Android TV Remote to be installed in your phone, Android or iPhone and press twice play/pause to activate.
This workaround works pretty well for now.
