I've got a 2015 set and would rather not get any more updates... It's slow enough already and would only get slower!
Considering going with a 4k firestick and unplugging the network cable from my TV/factory resetting.

No idea about your specific situation but there is a developer mode setting on these TV’s. If you enable that you can change a few settings which will speed up your performance.
It’s fairly common issue with the Sony TV’s so you’ll find lots of results in google on how to speed up the performance through changing a few settings.
