Hey guys! Just wondering why literally almost every website talking about android tv boxes has advertisements for vpn's? Are they really that important? I use kodi and some addons for movies and live tv, and the ussual other apps like chrome, youtube, etc. If its really necessary which VPN is best?

If you're streaming anything that could be considered illegal you should spend the money on a non logging VPN service.

i think it's mostly for downloading without consequences and getting around region blocking. can someone add other uses?

Why ads? To make money. Do you need one? Probably not. The only reason would be if you need content that is geolocked. But I stream illegally? So does many others, the risk of being caught is almost not present. The anti-piracy league go after the add-on creators. But the ads say I'm at risk? Like said, they want to make money.

I don't use kodi anymore but I do use a third party app for movies. I don't bother with a vpn. The chances of someone spotting you streaming unpaid- for stuff is miniscule.
