Anyone still using Google TV?

by patricki7

Just wondering if anyone is still using Google TV or Google TV Boxes. Such as Sony NSX, Logitech Revue, or Asus Cube

I still have a Sony NSX-40GT1 that I bought the day it was released back in 2010. Now it's our secondary TV in the basement with a Roku attached. The wireless chip in the set isn't working properly for a few years now so it has to be wired to do anything... which isn't much. Netflix works but it's dated, still accepts star ratings instead of thumbs but it's snappy still in the app. Plex works but is also quite old. Also like others said they killed YouTube on it. AFAIK you can't even sign into Google account anymore since it's Android v3. Back when I bought it I actually had the Best Buy sales person pull it from the back, it wasn't even on the floor yet. I loved that thing even with the janky v1 UI it had at the time. I really enjoyed watching a few video podcasts back then and the built in Podcasts app was tied to Google Reader so it was easy to subscribe to feeds. That app died with Google Reader of course and along with a lot of other neglect by Google on that platform I was pretty turned off from Android TV. It actually took me years to give it a real chance because of the Google TV experience. The Shield is great but I think a lot of that is Nvidia and OS having right selection of apps that I like to use. Sorry I could rant about Google TV for awhile ;/

Have Logitech Revue serving as a very adequate doorstop.

No, my GS7s are collecting dust since YouTube is no longer supported along with several other apps and no more updates.

Just fried one with power surge two days ago, so not anymore

That is a huge fail on Google. Android TV has been successful for them

Absolutely! With both a shield TV and a MiBox3
