How to dumb down AndroidTV?

by Krazi3azn

Trying to setup my mibox with IPTV for the elderly and make it super easy to use. Don't mind rooting or purchasing apps, but seeing if anyone has any ideas or directions to go. My requirements.

  1. Always open IPTV app or never be able to leave it. (or a simple launcher)
  2. An IPTV app thats easy to use or be able to remove all channels except for ones they use

Tvirl , you can disable groups/channels that you don't need

Check out TiviMate. Great iptv app. Should do what you want. Has auto start at boot, auto update playlist and epg. My number 1 goto app.

You could remove all the "channels" and app favorites on the main screen and just leave the IPTV icon.

In my experience of using IPTV, I've never found a provider reliable enough for me to trust putting into my parents/grandparents house. They're so used to turning the TV on and it just works the same way everytime, all the time.

Best of luck, I hope it works out for you.

Get a Mi Box S which has a Live Channels button, then remove everything they don't use.

Do not underestimate the propensity for most old people to rebel if they cannot grab a remote, and channel surf.

In my experience you're opening a giant can of "NAW, Breh!"

But you may want to look at Nova Launcher Prime. Its cheap. And more importantly it will allow you to hide the garbage that confuses elderly tech users.

Seriously, though, i might be imagining the added stability but it really feels snappier now... i hope i'm not taking a placebo.
