I much prefer this to the Nvidia remote because it has actual volume control buttons and takes AA batteries instead of 3v lithium coins.

My Samsung TV came with this one, and it controls Nvidia Shield TV too.

And $30 buys voice control via Echo Dot or Google Home Mini.
Im addicted to voice control now, my bedroom has 3 lamps controlled by it (all in awkward areas) and i'm buying a used nVidia Shield just so I can control that and my TV via HDMI-CEC.
They don't sell these remotes in Canada, and .com won't ship them here. Can't buy an official Nvidia one either. Have they been discontinued? Nvidia shop seems to point to so.. WTF??
Cannot say enough good things about this remote. You need a firestick to set up the IR, but it's pretty awesome. IR for mute, power, and volume rocker.
bought
That's a great deal. Thanks
Meh, if you're gonna spend $15 than I've really liked my T3-M air mouse. It can learn like 40 IR buttons as well. --Don't be deceived though, google assistant doesn't work with the microphone button.
I bought one just now, and then turned around to buy another. They are just so cheap. If I don't like them, I will return them.
I have a 2015 Shield and 2017 Shield. The 2015's remote battery life is awful. The 2017's remote is defective, and the center button double clicks on single click. I have a new style controller for both, but they are much bigger and clunkier than these remotes.
I was tempted to buy other cheap remotes others have mentioned, but I was shooting for simplicity. Too many buttons just gets in the way. If I really needed a keyboard for say a wifi password, I can just connect a USB keyboard. Plus my girlfriend, who works from home, uses the living room Shield hours a day will like them better.
Update:
I received my FireTV remotes. They are the second generation, aka Bluetooth. With my Shield 2017 the first one just worked. The second one wouldn't work at first with my Shield 2015. I tried pairing it repeatedly, and it kept saying couldn't pair.
I bought a FireStick 4k, and updated them from their stock version 124 to 125, the latest. That didn't help with the pairing on the Shield 2015. What did seem to help is restarting the Shield 2015, and then trying to pair again. In theory it could be a combination of the new firmware and the restart.
Both remotes show up on both Shields with the name AR. Both Shields are running the latest firmware, 7.2.2.
The remotes work great with the Shields. The only thing that doesn't work is the microphone button does nothing. The power button will put the Shield to sleep, and wake it up, just like the controller.
Update 2:
The main annoyance is the remotes' responsiveness lags right after a reboot of the Shield.
Completely agree. The new Alexa Fire TV remote is the best remote for Nvidia Shield, and it's not really even close. The new Alexa remote is worth ditching any remote which provides voice-control.
The Honest Truth? An incredibly functional remote, built like a POS. For $15? A no brainer.
I prefer Keyboard & mouse functionality, as well.
Thus, the Rii MX6
Does the volume control work with a receiver?
