Every time I start playback on my Mi Box S or Jetstream, according to the logs, Plex is requesting playback at 720kbps. Local and remote are set to Maximum, all other settings look fine. Both are hardwired ethernet.
Once the video starts I can change the bitrate manually, but it's a pain and guests/family don't know what's happening other than it looks like crap!
Has anyone seen this behavior? I'm posting here instead of the Plex forums because this is not an issue on Fire, Roku or any other device.
Answering my own question here, the fix is to switch back to wifi on these devices. Plex seems to be assuming the ethernet connection is crap and requesting a slow stream (while Hulu, Netflix, etc. do not have this problem.) I guess Plex cares as much about the excellent Android TV platform as does Google itself.
