MiBox lagging a lot

by Tecchie088

Hi folks,

I've got a 2+ year old MiBox (MDZ-16-AB) running mainly Kodi @ 1080p. Lately (I would say since the last update to 8.0.0) I've been noticing it starts lagging a lot after it's been running for couple of hours, so esentially requiring a reboot every day, so it becomes useful again.

I've uninstalled / disabled all the apps I don't need, as I use my TV for Netflix / Amazon Prime (HDR / Dolby Vision) and MiBox is only used for Kodi, but it's still lagging to no end.

By lagging I mean you can see a noticable delay between click on remote and GUI action and all animations seem to run in slow-motion.

Anybody experiencing the same issue?

PS: I'm using Ugreen Gigabit Ethernet adapter, if it makes any difference.

Factory reset after every major update have helped fix most of the bugs and slowdowns on my Mibox.

Mine too, haven't figured out the issue yet but I am going to try reset and reflash

venioni

Try to install kodi 18 and checked again for lagging.

Would take some time but many suggested do a factory reset after 8.0 update.

i've made a full fresh restart and change kodi to perfect player, no more laggs.

My parents were having this issue with their box (mine is fine). It only seemed to happen after it was restarted and then went to sleep, so I disabled sleep in the developer options in the Android system options. I texted my dad to confirm this helped him (did it over a week ago) and will update if it didn't.

Well my dad says it's still jumpy so I dunno.

Mine was also So this is what I did

  1. I deleted the textures.db file from Kodi and the whole thumbnails folder
  2. I cleared cache
  3. I made myself developer and changed these settings: a) turned on you acceleration b) changed animations from 1x to .5 speed

My mibox grabbed new life

Hope it helps 😀

Is it worth buying Mi Box S? How is the relationship between S and Oreo?😀 I have mi3 and after the Oreo update it became too laggy, don't have time to do a factory reset...
