i have tried a few times to get the app to run, with no luck. Last time it would load and launch, but I had poor controls and it was not worth the hassle.
Well they actually have the app on like 6 platforms. So it seems like ATV just always gets the shaft. That said I won't use their boxes. Poor experience, I'll be using a HDHR prime. But for on demand you need the app.
I can just use the app on my Samsung TV. I just prefer to do everything through the shield when possible.
On xda there is a modified APK for spectrum. But you will need a mouse to navigate it. If you have Nvidia game controller you can use mouse with right joystick.
Does the spectrum credentials work with fitzy TV app?
We have Spectrum Choice as well. There was no way my wife and I were going to use a phone app that requires a mouse to watch live TV in non HD so we got an HDHomerun Prime and it works great with Spectrum Choice in the Live Channels app. Even premium channels like HBO, Showtime, and Starz work great.
Android TV is finally what I always wanted it to be. We never have to switch inputs on the TV. The Shield TV is an all in one device. It's wife proof.
Also got a killer deal from Spectrum a few months back to uncut the cord: Spectrum Choice, internet, and HBO, Showtime, and Starz all for around $80 a month after taxes and fees for 1 year.
I take that back, DRM channels can be viewed just not recorded.
But how does it run I hear it's the phone version and doesn't work right. I have an iPhone so this process won't work for me but I know I can sideload another way.
You can sideload the app directly from your phone to the TV. Install an app called HAL Launcher on both phone and TV from the playstore. Go to settings and "apk transfer" on both. On your phone press "discover" and follow prompts on phone, then TV, to connect. Select the Spectrum app from the app list on phone then press "send".
