Harmony control question

by crazyg0od33

Hey all -

So I have in my setup a Sony X900F Android TV, and an Nvidia Shield TV, which is my preferred streaming device.

Issue is, when I turn on my TV activity (I use the shield for youtube TV, etc.), the remote turns everything on correctly, but then it controls the sony android TV interface instead of the shield TV.

So if I hit the home button, instead of going to the main shield tv menu, it pulls up the sony android tv interface, etc.

Does anyone else have a similar setup / have any ideas on how to disable the control of the Sony TV?

Thanks

Two things:

One. When you setup the activity the first time, it asks you "which device controls sound", "which device plays video", etc. You probably picked wrong there.

Two. You can change the mappings of all buttons on the remote. When you do, you can first pick the device, then the command from that device. If you can't get the autosetup to do it correctly, manually fix your home button (and probably many others) to the correct device and then command.

There is absolutely no reason why this wouldn't work. Let me know if you need more help

In addition to what the others have said, make sure you did not try to use the default "Watch TV" Activity when you set this up. That is made for cable boxes and/or OTA channel watching, not a streaming box. I made the same mistake. If you have an option for "favorites" in this Activity, then this is what was done.

Delete the Watch TV activity, and create one from scratch by selecting "Add your own activity". When you get to the "Activity Type", don't select "Watch TV", select "Sony X900" or however it shows up. That way, your controls will default to the Android box, and volume and power will go to the TV and\or sound system.

You need to edit your Watch TV activity to include the Shield TV and set the input for the TV. It should automatically start using the Shield commands but you may want to go in and edit a few of them line Home, etc.

I own a shield tv connected to a non Android TV and a Sony 4k Android TV. Was wondering why do you use the shield with your Sony TV? Features and functions seem identical, minus gaming capabilities.
