On my shield I just use Kodi to stream from my google drive.
Some files can be shared from Kodi using the built-in UPnP server and files scanned into the Video library. Kodi will not currently transcode any files, so only file formats that your TV/device can natively playback will work.Apr 29, 2017

X-plore file manager you can connect to Google Drive and it will play MP4 in its video player
It'll work fine I do the same with solid explorer and mega.
I have been using solid explorer te access my google drive files and it's great.
Solid explorer is available for android tv.
