Does anyone have an experience using USB DAC / Speaker on Mi Box S?

by Ghostofcockroach

Hi everyone! I have a Kef X300A which connects to my PC with USB. It also has an analog 3.5mm input that I never use.

I'm interested in buying the Mi Box S and wondering if I could use my speakers. Does anyone ever plug a USB Audio device (like DAC or Speakers) to the mi box and would like to share your experience?

From what I gather around seems like Nvidia Shield is the safer choice for me, but to get one in my country means dealing with unofficial importers, meaning warranty claim and support is non existent or going to be difficult..

I guess worst case scenario I could use the analog output of the Mi Box to connect to my speakers..

I'm open for suggestion.. thanks!

Yes I would suggest using optical out

I never used USB audio, but for the last couple of years I've been using my original Mi Box with analog out and it has worked perfectly.

I had it connected to a little Lepy 2 channel amp feeding some in ceiling speakers, and worked fine for my needs.

If there's support for it in Linux kernel, I think it should work.

Edit: Remembered I have an USB audio stick lying around. I plugged it in my Mi Box 3 and it Just Worked ™

No settings for it though.
