I have a question

by zascar

Need a recommendation on a box please. I have a fire TV and I like it but it's too amazon focused. I want to customise the menu for my apps. I want to be able to use apps like mobdro etc (used to use kodi but not any more - I'm sure there ar better now).

I was going to buy the Fire TV 4k, I love how the remote had volume controls. Any others I should look at? Mi box any good? What else? Thanks.

Both MiBox and nVidia shield will provide what you want, Kodi install and customized menus and volume controls on the remote (MiBox has physical volume buttons, where Shield is a touch panel). MiBox being cheaper and capable, where as the nVidia is significantly faster, so navigating menus is so much faster than the MiBox. Newegg has the shield on sale for $150 right now, I think the lowest was $130 during black friday.

Not all devices are Netflix Certified.

Be careful, look in this list if that is important:

Also be aware Android TV has Dolby Audio limitations.

Another trap for the unwary vs Amazon FireTV devices.
