Android box opinions

Thinking about new android box. I already have fire TV box 4k 2nd gen. I've been looking at T95Q Android Oreo 8.1. would this be a good option. I.e better than I already have?

It'll almost certainly be worse. Your FireTV is supported by most major content providers. The box you suggest is a generic branded Chinese crapbox that won't comply with any of the DRM protocols needed for official content.

Don’t even bother with a Chinese box. You will regret it. Go for a certified android tv box. NVIDIA Shield or xiaomi mi box. For the best experience splash out and get a shield. Worth every penny.

You are in the wrong Subreddit if you want a Generic Android Box running the touchscreen Android OS.

You need both proper DRM and Google Android TV certifications if you want an Android Box with the same paid for copy protected video streaming capabilities that your FireTV Box already has.

The 2018 Fire TV 4K stick is more powerful and capable vs any of the cheap Android TV OS devices on the market.

Proper Dolby audio support is frankly a mess with ALL Android TV OS media players, especially the cheap ones. vs what you get with the Roku, FireTV and Apple TV competition.

Does the mi box have ethernet port?

Downgrade imo. An upgrade would be Nvidia Shield Tv. Mibox, Jetstream and 4k fire stick are slight upgrades.

I own and use 2 Shields and 2 of the new FireTV Stick 4k’s among other streaming devices. I have a Shield and a FireTV Stick 4k connected to a LG OLED65B7A and the other Shield and FireTV Stick 4k connected to a Optoma UHZ65 4k HDR laser projector. I have done a/b comparisons of the Shields and the FireTV Stick 4k’s in both environments. I rarely use my Shields anymore, the sticks are that good. And if you need support for Dolby Vision, vp9 profile 2, or HLG (to name 3 things) then you need the FireTV Stick 4k. For just streaming I don’t think the Shield (currently $149.00 on Amazon) is worth the price premium over the FireTV Stick 4k (currently $39.99 on Amazon) but that is JMHO. Net is for the $ the new FireTV Stick 4k is the best streaming device out there right now IMHO.
