Mi box 3 CEC problems TV constantly turns itself on

by aross1976

anyone else having issues with this piece of shit? my box updated to Oreo

not sure if i had this issue before but now my TV turns it self on ALL THE TIME ,turn the TV off leave the room 15 minutes later fucking TV is back on again !

in HDMI CEC i ony 3 (autistic as fuck) options

they are

CEC switch

one key play

one key power off

i leave CEC switch set to on

i have no clue what the other 2 options are supposed to be for

but when i switch off the option for "one key play" ( whatever the fuck that is supposed to mean)

then my CEC does not work at all

and when i switch it on... well my CEC then sort of works , but if the TV is off you have to sit there mashing buttons on the remote for 15 minutes before the TV responds and turns on ,

but when that setting is set to on then my TV keeps on turning itself on every god damn 15 to 20 minutes

what fucking piece of shi this thing is, the CEC on my fire tv sticks just works] google is a fukcing shit stain on the tech industry and it needs to be wiped away everything they do is just fucking shit , android TV is a fucking dumpster fire that just needs to fucking die already , it sucks

seriously what the fuck doe shits shit even mean?

i have no fucking clue, these labels mean fuckall , how is anyone supposed to decipher this off the fucking spectrum autism?. why is google so fucking retarded ?why can't they think of names for their shat that are self explanatory or at least have some relevance as to what they do ?

why are there only 3 nonsensical options , i fucking hate this garbage and their bullshit minimalist material design

the fucking OS is such a piece of shit there not even a way to see a list of running apps or to close individual apps without to going to setting

this thing is a fucking piece of shit, even my 1st gen fire stick will instantly turn on my TV if i touch any button its remote and it does not randomly turn my fucking TV on by itself every 15 fuckin minutes

and i can actually sort of understand the CEC option labels and what they do are for just by reading them unlike this autistic s fuk pile called shitdroid TV

First thing first :take a chill pill. 2nd thing : factory reset your box. 3rd thing : learn how to read, because it has been said numerous time on this subreddit that you must factory reset after the update because it bring a lot of bugs.

Is not Google brah, it's the mi box, my shield has several cec settings, which guy in the chain controls power, who does the volume and how (I use ir to control the onkyo receiver to avoid accidental volume changes because the remote volume slider is sorta sensitive), and whether to sleep or shut off when power is turned off, really cool, in other words it's not the software (ie. Google) but the hardware limitations and cec controller implementation. Amlogic is cheap and lacking in a lot of areas, Amazon's mediatek soc probably adheres better to the cec standards and that's why it works so much better. I had the mi box 3, Nexus player and now the shield TV and also a bunch of other Android boxes. Shield works best obviously, second would be the Nexus player but no 4k, mi box sucked and so did the other Android boxes and I'm purely talking about HDMI cec and passthrough audio to an onkyo receiver. I might actually get an Amazon 4k stick just to compare. So far Android TV has blown me away on the shield and if I ever need to get another box it will be from Nvidia or Google themselves, I'm never wasting another dollar on a Chinese sold Android box again.

Your very first problem is believing in HDMI CEC control in the very first place.

No matter what platform you use someone will always say it works perfectly for them ON THEIR SPECIFIC HARDWARE SETUP. They should consider themselves really lucky.

The next person will come along and have nothing but problems with a different media player / TV / AVR / Soundbar setup.

Go have a look at the Shield TV forums, users are having issues over there as well.

HDMI CEC is nothing but a can of worms.

If it does not work turn it all off and stop using it.
