What box should I get for my Samsung (Tizen) tv.

by Szechuan-

Hello,

Actually I want to watch my korean drama's with Viki. Sadly Tizen samsung is no longer supported by Viki.

So I thought about getting a xiaomi S but I am not sure... I read people have a lot of trouble with it.

A Nvidia shield is out of the question as it is to expensive for me... So I was thinking perhaps get a chromecast ultra maybe? I do not know, I dislike the idea of chromecasting... You need your phone at all times. I would like the freedom just to have this box next to me.

I will mainly watch 1080P cause I don't care much for 4k. I got a 4k tv just because every bloody tv is 4k nowadays. Also I should mention I got a 43 inch tv so it's not as big... I mean I'd get why you want 4k on a very big screen.

So please help me.

If you got something outside of the mibox or chromecast ultra that is also good. Perhaps even a normal chromecast would do as a cheap option?

I live in Europe (Netherlands.) Thanks a lot for the help!

Firestick4k is best. Fast, cheap, great remote, has Viki.

It doesn't do Chromecast, but you said you don't really want that anyway.

The interface is fine, but full of Amazon ads. If it's annoying you can install a custom launcher with this tutorial: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=j3INr2i0H8A

The only Android TV box worth owning is the Shield TV. So if you're not willing to throw money for it, then I'd suggest looking at a Fire TV Stick.

You are living in Europe so also have to deal with 25/50fps video content.

Android TV devices are all setup for North American 23.976, 29.97 and 59.94 Frame Rates.

Unless you have a device that does Auto Frame Rate Matching - you are going to have all sorts of video judder in various video streaming Apps when you try and output the North American sourced video content at a European 50Hz.

Honestly you are better off getting a Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K or a refurbished (1080p only) Apple TV 4. Both devices have auto Frame Rate Matching, which work with a variety of Apps to support UK, European and Australasian video frame rates:

Personally I would stay away from all North American centric Android TV devices for use outside North America.

The cheap Android TV devices have no auto Frame Rate matching capabilities at all.

I use an Apple TV 4K to video Sync everything up nicely. It's set and forget. I'm in the Australasian region.
