Samba server

by elgenes

Is there a samba server that works fine with root enabled? Want to transfer media files from my Macbook, without streaming from it.

Thanks

X-plore works with Samba and is free.

You might want to also consider using a router that has Samba built in. I have a 4TB USB 3.0 hard drive plugged into my WRT32X and it serves it over the network at nearly 100MB/s read/write for example.

There are a few apps that support samba server. You can also use Ftp server. Check play store

Xplorer has a built-in feature for it

Did anyone find an answer to this? The closest thing i've found is SMBTV, which seems to work but doesn't support mounting USB drives so far as I can tell. Otherwise, I think the next best thing is to run an FTP server on the TV and mount it via Transmit or Forklift.
