AndroidTV Box interferes with Philips smart TV

by berkhigh

I recently bought a new 4K UHD Smart TV from Philips, this one .

Before this I already owned an AndroidTV box with a Sony Bravia FULL-HD TV and everything worked fine.

Since this new TV the AndroidTV's remote interferes with the Philips TV. When I press the volume down-button on the ATV box's remote, i get sent to the 'USB source' menu on the TV, and when i press on the OK-button on the ATV box's remote, i get sent to the 'TV guide' on my Philips TV.

I think there's some sort of infrared disturbance/conflict. I have no idea how to fix this. Any ideas?

This subreddit is for devices running the Android TV OS. It sound like you have a tv box running Android. If so you'll likely get better help elsewhere. My only piece of advice would be to disable HDMI-CEC on the tv to see if that helps.

If it's an ir issue you can't fix it, it's a coincidence and there is nothing you can do short of just not using the remote and getting a wireless one for your Android box. Same thing happened to me at christmas time when my Vizio TV remote operated my christmas lights on the tree because they too were infrared remote operated.

Did you plug-in your box into the hdmi-arc of the tv?

You could try using CEC if both your TV and AndroidTV box support it then just put a little piece of tape over the IR sensor of the Android box. Then you'd be able to just use your TV remote.

If it's IR you're SOL and need a new remote for the box, one that requires pairing.

For my next TV I hope to find a really nice one but not "Smart." I love my Nvidia Shield compared to the smart TV os.
