Any Jetstream users?

by MrMEC

I'm interested in potentially getting a Jetstream box to replace my Mibox for my bedroom, since I'm sick of the constant issues with the Mibox - particularly the wake bug. Before anyone asks, I already have a Shield, but I don't really want to invest in two - I just want a decent mid-range box and have not been happy with my Mibox for a while now.

That said, can anyone recommend the Jetstream, particularly compared to Mibox? Anybody here have one?

I'm an early adopter of the Jetstream and have no regrets. I haven't had to re-pair the remote at all, wifi had never given me an issue, and it plays everything I throw at it.

Just got the Jetstream so don't have extensive experience with it yet, but so far so good. Seems smoother and faster than my Mibox, although the Mibox has been pretty good to me except for the frequent remote disconnects.

I've been using the Jetstream for a few months. Haven't had any issues so far. I like it better than mibox, especially since it can be hardwired.

Been using it for several weeks. No issues at all. I'll definitely be buying another.

I've had mine since just November. Excellent box. No problems.

Thanks guys - your feedback pretty much sealed the deal for me. Definitely will be picking up a Jetstream box this weekend. Thanks!

Makes me wonder, why doesn't this box get more publicity? I guess since it's still rather new, but all I ever read about around here is the Mibox (and it's problems), and the Shield.

I have a Jetstream box, a mi box and 3 shield The boxes. The shield is by far the best box but it is the most expensive as well obviously. I have mostly positive things to say about the Jetstream though. It's much snappier than the MiBox. If watching live streams, it plays content very smooth. And you don't get the jerkyness that the mi box gets when your looking at a news ticker on the bottom of the screen as it scrolls or you might notice with fast moving sports.

I will say though if you use Plex then this is prob not the best box to get. No matter what I have the setting too, when I start playing a movie it always transcodes it at a low quality. Once the movie starts I can then go and put the quality to original and it will play perfectly but it will not play at original quality when you start the movie/TV show. Also, for some reason if I turn on the Jetstream box and it has some Android apps to update they will just sit there and never complete. I have to manually stop each one and restart the update then it will download.

Honestly for the price it's a pretty decent box just don't expect this box to stay supported for too long. I would rate it above the MiBox and below the Shield TV.

Thinking about selling my Shield TV once there is a good alternative. Maybe this is it. Cannot fk-ing stand the Shield TV remote.

I had an older mibox that I replaced with a Jetstream last month. Had to exchange the first one because it was difficult to download any apps. It was perpetually stuck in "download pending" mode. Had to always clear the cache and restart the Playstore for a download to push through. My second unit seems to work well with no major issues. The only thing is that the clarity looks sharper at 1080p (no soft edges around lettering) then at the defaulted 4k setting. Anyone else have that experience? I have a 4k TV .
