Xiamoi Mi Box s. Apps Not Updating

by jadesse

Justed connected my new box and so far a big disaapointment. With all of the preinstalled TV apps that I don't use and can't uninstall. Sling TV is preinstalled but it needs an update and it will not update. Apps that I want to install from tne play store will not download either. What the hell is going on? This should have been pretty straignt forward but look like I have a useless brick.

I have a MI box first thing is to make sure you have signed into your Google account for your apps to update. It's an Android box so u have to be signed into the play store app for them to do so.

I also disabled all the pre installed apps by going to the the settings.

Hope this helps.

First of all, you can disable the pre-installed apps, same as you can on your phone.

Secondly, apps will not update if they have been disabled. The only reason an app won't update is because it's been disabled. Are you sure your box is new? Or is it an open box sale? The previous owner may have done some tinkering.

Thirdly, installing an app from the Play Store should be very straightforward. What exactly is going on? Be specific.

What is your goal with your MiBox? Are you planning on running StbEMU for IPTV? Are you planning on sideloading APKs such as Cinema HD or Cyberflix? Are you planning on using legit streaming services like Hulu, Crave, Netflix?

Have you actually checked for updates for the OS? If play services has/needs an update you wouldn't be able to download anything.

I've found if you have the Mi Box S connected to Ethernet, but don't disable the wifi, sometimes apps will not update.

Ya.. there must be some network issue or something else at play. It should update.. I gave seen things stuck on download pending on various Android devices... It's usually some network problem or some app like apkpure blocking it fir some reason..

Uninstall the other app store you have installed.

Regular mibox3 international version when I open the play store app/my apps to see if I have apps to update it just spinning and spinning and nothing happens.

I just connected my Mi Box S and have the exact same problem. I've tried ethernet and wifi with no luck.

E: disconnecting the ethernet cable and connecting via wifi worked for me. Works fine now.

It's seems to be a conflict with usb port, I uninstalled Ethernet but with a USB hub and hhd, untill I unplugged the USB then everything went smooth
