For Mibox users that use IR remotes

by crzyakta

I have a universal Sony IR remote, I see many Logitech users getting IR to work, I cannot to do the same for my remote since there is no Xiaomi code for it.

Are users just going though all the codes and getting lucky? FYI, it's model RM-VZ220

thanks

Wait, the mibox has an IR receiver? Lmao I've had this thing for so long and this is the first I'm finding out.

e: OMG it does and my cheapo $5 universal remote works with it. I know this doesn't help you OP but this just made my night.

I have a generic, very old "One4All" universal remote, with learning capabilities. My cellphone has IR too. I just had my remote learn the Mi Remote app's signals.

I use a sideclick, works great.

It simply looks like that remote and maybe Sony remoted don't support Xiaomi right now... I looked at a few manuals, and none of them had Xiaomi anywhere... I saw Roku though...

I guess your choices are to buy a remote that supports Xiaomi and use that, or to use that remote to program your remote if your remote has learning capability (I did a quick look and I don't think the the RM-VZ220 does).

You may have to go and look for a remote that states streaming support, or one that says supports Xiaomi would likely be best...

The Harmony 650 as well as most of their programable remotes seems to have support for Xiaomi.

For me it's all about finding the one that has the support for the devices I want to use, and more importantly feels the best/most natural when I use it... I also kinda hate the rubber buttons, since the numbers seem to fade/rub off over time...

I do wish you the best of luck in finding a solution.
