PS4 Controller Mi Box 3?

by bigboiahoy

I haven’t seen any support for the ps4 controller for the Mi Box 3 and was wondering if anyone got it working?

I tried pairing the xbox and ps4 controller but without any success.

Same counts for an external keyboard.

I am using a model CUH-ZCT2U coming with my PS4 Pro. Can't get it paired with my Mi Box. It works as a wired controller when plugged in with its official USB cable. But the button mapping is wrong. O is mapped to A button (confirm), X is mapped to B button (cancel), etc. When plugged to Shield TV, mapping is correct. So I guess this is probably a firmware issue. It's usually not a big deal with emulators since you can rebind buttons anyway.

My Mi Box is still on an old firmware. Maybe other people with the latest firmware can tell you if button mapping has changed.

My old Mibox would not support my PS3 remote, but my Shield does both PS3 and PS4 remotes.

All I have to do is plug it in via USB, and then unplug.

You will have limited success pairing it as bluetooth (some things work others do not) without rooting and installing the Sixaxis app.

Shield TV actually fully supports the PS4 controller, NVIDIA added native support for it in their 7.0 update.

That’s weird the mi box doesn’t support it. I have the Jetstream and it pairs fine and the button mapping is correct.

Android 9 Pie supports PS4 controller. It was a newly added feature. Mi Box is still Android 8.0. In fact, Android TV hasn't been upgraded to 9.0 as a whole yet.

Yes, manufacturers can add support on their own but it's not likely for the Mi Box. It was never meant to be a gaming box. Best bet is to hope it gets Android Pie or another controller.
