Sony KDL50W809C display issue. Potential cause?

The tab bonding has given up. All along the edges of the screen are flat flex cable bonded to the glass LCD. They deliver the signals to all the pixels. Over time these bonds deteriorate. It is generally unrepairable. You can occasionally fix temporarily by disassembling the screen adding some shims over the flex bonding points and reassembling.

In my experience, it's not worth trying.

Looks like hardware. Perhaps a loose ribbon cable.

Sorry if I'm spamming. But to me all i can see is the new Netflix Animation.

My cousin had a normal Sony TV and also failed, and he described the fault like this one, she just said all that the tv displayed where vertical lines.

Sound works fine, sometimes you can see the video fading from behind those stripes. It happened suddenly at night, can't be water damage. The TV also sits fairly far from any heat sources...

juzzle

That's kind of cool - where can I get that screensaver?

Thank you everyone for your help, looks like I'll have to get a new TV

"It's a Sony"

All my Sony products fail... typically just after warranty period ends.
