Yea the mibox wifi radio is weak, it needs to be closer to your wifi router.
Change your encryption type and it will see it.

Set the router channel to 9 in the router configuration page, it's usually 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1
That's what did the trick for me
You log on one of those ip addresses from your computer browser, the id should be “admin” and password “admin” . If these credentials do not work, leave the password blank and it should log in. Next, depends on your user interface, you have to find WiFi channels settings and change from auto to 9(I went trough each and one of it until I found that 9 was working fine with the mibox)
It's either a range issue or something else on your end.
Have zero issues with Mi Box or Shield TV on my Wifi router (WRT32X), both 2.4GHz and 5GHz have been fine.
Try different wifi channels.
