Netflix autoplaying previews on Android TV. Is this a "feature" or can I make it stop?

by drdessertlover

I just got a Mi box S from Walmart, and I'm pretty happy with it so far. VPN works like a charm and app switching is pretty smooth. The only complaint I have is about Netflix! It plays a preview of the movie/series if I hover on a thumbnail for more than 2 seconds. It is incredibly annoying for someone who likes to read the description. Is there a way to make this stop?

It's not just Android TV exclusive in my experience. I've seen it happen on a relative's Roku and even their Samsung Smart TV. Sadly as far as I am aware there is not a way to turn it off.

No there is no way to stop it it's been like this for years

It's one of the biggest netflix complaints. I hate it so much.

Yeah its shit, my daughter turned on Netflix while logged into my account and was scared shitless. Now she doesn't turn it on without us. (She's 4)

All new devices are stuck with this much hated feature. Funny thing is I have an old Roku 2 that still uses a version of Netflix with old interface. It's simple and clean without this annoying preview crap.

This crap is also rolling out to phones. I can't stand this auto play crap there should be a setting to turn it off.

Just a couple more months until Disney ruins netflix :')

Go to Settings - Home Screen. Then disable video previews

I downgraded to version 3.3.2, which seems to be the last version that didn't have this EXCRUCIATINGLY ANNOYING "FEATURE". I have a low bandwidth connection so having the app constantly maxing out my connection to pre-buffer unwanted trailers is completely idiotic! I hope they put a simple on/off switch for this in future releases.
