Mi Box S - have I just bought a hunk of junk?

I’ve had my Mi box for a grand total of a day and a half and it’s completely busted, won’t connect to WiFi any more and I had it crash out on me a couple of times, plus the experience on a lot of the apps have left a lot to be desired.

Anyone else having WiFi issues on the latest mi box s?

I believe it came with the latest android version 8.1.0 and I’ve tried static IP, turning it off and on again, turning WiFi on and off, forgetting the network and reconfiguring, WPS setup doesn’t work at all and now I’ve tried a factory reset and it still will refuse to work properly.

I brought 5 Mi Box S all working no problems like you mention. Return it and get a replacement.

Seems defective. Return. I travel around Europe with mine and connect to tons of shitty hotel wifi networks without any problems.

I would return it and get a Jetstream. A shield of you can afford it. The Jetstream isn't talked about much here simply because it doesn't have problems.

Yep. Get the Mi Box 3 (my SO's has been great on Oreo) or better yet, a Shield, especially if you're into gaming/emulators.

As you didn't mention,

Try changing band (2.4/5) and wifi channel. Usually auto select works. Also, how far is your router.

Yes you did. I’d return it and buy a shield. Only if you’re set on android tv. Personally I would recommend an Apple TV. For whatever reason app creators don’t like to support android tv.
