Hi, Is Kodi overrated considering you can get IPTV with live channels and movies tv shows with terrarium tv etc do I don’t get what so special about Kodi? Am I missing something

None of those are what Kodi is for.

As it says on the Kodi download page on their official site kodi.tv :

The official Kodi version does not contain any content whatsoever. This means that you should provide your own content from a local or remote storage location, DVD, Blu-Ray or any other media carrier that you own. Additionally Kodi allows you to install third-party plugins that may provide access to content that is freely available on the official content provider website. The watching or listening of illegal or pirated content which would otherwise need to be paid for is not endorsed or approved by Team Kodi.

So is it overrated as a streaming delivery vehicle? Possibly, but it's not what I use it for and is not the project's goal either.

Kodi is a media player, not a magical device that gives you free streams. You are missing alot. that is for sure.

If you have to ask that question then you have no idea what it's primary purpose is and what it's capable of and more than likely it isn't for you anyway.

No, Kodi is not overrated. For those of us who dont use garbage IPTV streams or addons to get Yiffy quality movies, Kodi works great.

I use Kodi as a front end for all of my content. It isn't overrated at all. It presents a nice sleek look, with links to my movies and TV, integrated Netflix (as of version 18), integrated Amazon (meaning most of my Movies Anywhere stuff) and integrated WWE Network, so I don't have to rely on external apps for those - for the things I do use external apps for, I can put links to them in the Kodi interface, and keep the "experience" consistant, which is good for my fiance and the kids. Using my HDHomerun, I've got Kodi's EPG guide which is very similar to the one that we would get from the cable company.

So no, not overrated at all - but if you don't have a use case for it, then it may not be for you.

Got a hard drive full of content? Well Kodi can play that. Kodi can share that out over the network. Playing videos, it tells me if i finished watching them or haven't, I can have Kodi play the next video file automatically. I can control the volume, I can switch to secondary audio channels (ie: Spanish commentary for NFL games). I can change the look and feel of the User Interface. I run it on Windows, Android, OSX, Linux, even on a Raspberry Pi. Both Boxee and Plex code are based on Kodi. I can navigate Kodi using my phone via WiFi, or even from my desktop using HTTP.

Kodi is a fantastic. In your case, OP, it is only as good as whatever plugin you're using to watch content ilegally.

No, Kodi is awesome. You are missing a lot.

You're not missing anything. Archos media player is loads better. You don't even have to sort the media on your PC.

Yes, those apps are much better too.
