Nova Video Player: an open-source Android video player, please test and report issues

I am the current main developper and maintainer Nova Video Player an open source video player for Android. It consists in a fork of the original Archos Video Player Community Edition that is hosted here: https://github.com/nova-video-player/aos-AVP supporting Android O and P and beyond as well as including new features.

What are the IAPs? I had to give permission to IAP to install it, but there's no IAP listed in the Play Store page.

Choosing use other player, and having VLC installed results in some files saying cannot open file, or no application found to open file.

Wonderful player, it is much more stable than other players I tried, especially with the trashy video app from Sony after the Oreo update.

just 2 things I spot odd.

  1. Some HDR videos, they would show a grey bar on top/bottom. TV shows HDR enabled.
  2. I cannot get surround sound to transmit to my receiver via ARC. Only Stereo. Sony's video app did and receiver detected the type , until it was broken with Oreo update. I did try the HDMI passthrough options, Option 1 gave me buzzing sound, Option 2 no sound.

  • Completely hide file/folder from library (rather than scraping everything)

Hi, I have not been able to find Nova Media Player on Aptoide TV. Is is possible to add it so it can be downloaded on Fire TV?

Really happy to have found your Nova Player. I bought an NVIDIA shield and have had so many issues with errors and buffering issues, in both Kodi and Emby. It was all solved with simply using SMB with Nova so thanks heaps!

Hi. Love your Nova Player - great useability but so very disappointed that I've no 5.1 output.

I have a 2020 Sony OLED running Google TV connected with a high end hdmi cable to my mid-range GBP600 Sony AV Receiver.

VLC and in-built media player are fine and I get proper hi-res 5.1. But Nova only outputs stereo.

Are you planning on fixing this?

I use it less and less because of this, very sadly because your UX is by far the best.

I hate the way nova player auto scrape everything. I just want my files the way it is. Please disable this feature, its horrendous.
