Our mi box has issues sometimes after waking up, but if we reboot it'll run fine. We have to hold down the power button and select restart. I think you can turn off the sleep mode, check all the settings.

Had to deal with the same issue on the old model last week. I was able to downgrade to an old firmware and got rid of the problem of sluggish performance after wake up every time. Because you have the newer S model, I suggest you doing a factory reset and disabling all pre-installed apps except Netflix and YouTube. You can also play with some developer options mentioned in old threads, which didn't help in my case. If problem persists even with only Netflix and YouTube, maybe it's time to return it cause there's really not much else you can do other than waiting for new firmware in the future, which may or may not fix the problem.

When loading more apps onto the box, it's better to only install a few each time and observe the performance for a while. This way you can isolate apps that cause performance issue.

The Jetstreams box is much better than the Mi. The Shield is just overkill and a waste of money unless you're planning on some serious gaming. Most people just want streaming apps to work as they should. The Jetstream has been flawless.

Are you hardwired? I have a Mi Box S and it was complete trash, locking up almost daily, dropping connection, just all together a pain to even use. I bought a ethernet adapter from amazon, ran a cat5 wire and the box has been fine ever since.

It's pretty lame I had to buy extra components to make the thing work, I wish I had just bought another shield instead. I have a shield in the living room and I'm 100% happy with that device.

My SO has been running a Mi Box 3 since launch, loaded beta 924 on it & it stayed that way til Oreo dropped.

Except for the occasional freeze up after she leaves it running for weeks on end, it's been great.

Just curious if you bought it from Walmart. Ive noticed a trend with the people having issues mainly seem to be from the USA. Myself other than the odd time the remote has dropped out after being woken, I've never had any other issues with mine or the 6 that I've setup for family members. All of mine have been purchased through the Aliexpress mibox store.

Maybe it's the apps you have on there. One could be a memory leak. You sideload any apps or have any non-standard apps?

It's easy to blame the box when it could be anything really. Bunch of people being lazy and don't want to troubleshoot the cause of the problem.

Yes, sometimes it just hangs and only way is to unplug and plug it.

I even faced issues while casting Netflix, it just keeps saying check your connection or some message like that and again I've to cast from mobile for it to work. I faced it couple of times.

Also while casting Live cricket match from Hotstar it disconnected multiple times, I had to recast everytime. Finally I played directly on the Hotstar app in the Mi Box.

Mine is pretty new, using it like from a week only. And bought it from Walmart.

Get the eMatic JetStream 4K. Sold at Walmart for $69. Runs Android TV. Xiaomi makes crap products and puts out buggy updates. Learned my lesson with the first generation Mibox. Lasted about two years, after the first year I had to completely reimage of the device every couple weeks, then it finally suffered a complete hardware failure. Their products are absolute garbage.
