Warranty on Sony Android TVs

by ForeverUnion

Hi,

I bought a Sony XBR-65X850E almost a year ago and I am not clear on the warranty. I know it comes with a one year warranty but is there anyway to extend the warranty?

The TV is straight up awful due to Android, it’s very slow and sometimes it doesn’t turn on even after pressing the on button over 20 times. I worry that one day it just won’t turn on anymore and I’ll need to buy another one.

You’d think that for the amount of money you spend you’d get something that gives you a piece of mind.

I also had power an issues with this tv. It often would only power on after I unplugged it and plugged it back in. I had it fixed under warranty and the tech told me that it was a known issue with the controller. He said Sony extended the warranty. The tv has been great after the repair. Good luck !

I had the same power on issue with my X800E. Called Sony and they swapped it out for the closest equivalent they had available, an X900F.

It looks like the standard warranty in the USA for Bravia TVs is two years for a hardware related issue. However, they do note that any software issues are only covered for 90 days. So if the Android software is causing the problems, then it would be considered out of warranty.

I would go through Sony's support website and most likely give them a call.

Check if there is a firmware update - this will probably solve your issue
