Live chat is toxic af.
That's about the last feature I was looking for, but at least it's something. Now how about something useful, like playback speed controls?
Noticed this a few weeks ago. Only thing I use it for is Safari Live and even then it's a little hard to follow.
But it is nice to know they're still adding/releasing improvements.

The chat is important to Alphabet/Google/YouTube because all the influencers who do premier shows rake in the most ca$h during preview chats with fools who have nothing better to do with their money.
Obviously, they get their cut from all the Influencers .

I noticed this when I clicked a random live video. The one feature I've really wanted is to be able to save videos to playlists in the Android TV app. So when I saw the new chat feature I clicked the little menu button at the left of the player to see if anything else had been added, and what do you know, save to playlist functionality. Is that new also or have I not noticed it since I rarely ever look at that part of the player menu?
I really don't understand why they don't have always visible these icons because plenty of room exist like the native Android TV Youtube app. But at Apple's era of "simplicity" to the point of stupidity they hide everything.
Vital and characteristically to the existence and essence of YouTube icons are hidden like the thumbs, subscribe, current quality and in the era of hate, terror and pedophilia videos report button always is hidden and useless.
But they gave us chat. Because Youtube with Stadia is the new Twitch.
