It worked at night now it's stuck on Android boot animation. The tv only has one physical button, when I press the power button during the in initia TCL load screen it goes into Android DFU (I think) but just says error.
I have disconnected everything, tried holding the physical power button down for 15-20 seconds then unplugging it (while it was on,per TCL support) still no dice. They said it's an Australian model so I need to call them but that's tricky.
Any advice?
I'm so glad I came across this. Same tv and now mine is stuck at the red TCL logo. I was in the android boot menu and clicked reboot and it just now only gets to the TCL logo screen. Tried all the methods listed but none seem to work. ðŸ˜
Edit: So I got another USB stick, formatted it to fat32 and put the last update on it from the Australian TCL site and booted the tv with the drive in while holding the power button and it updated. All fixed and now with a newer version of Android tv then I had before.
I would try downloading the software update (update.pkg file) on a usb drive (fat32 formatted). You start the update by powering off the tv, inserting stick on service port (usb 2.0) and turn it on by holding the physical power button on the back side of the tv until you see the message that thw tv is updating.

i feel your pain. this was me a few months ago after messing with a few developer settings.
my solution was to perform a hard reset on the tv. using the power button and the arrow keys on the remote.
you will need two people for this.
Did you try different a U drive? Make sure you are using the service port.
