[Help] MiBox - TV versions of apps from Fire Stick

by The8BitMonkey

So I just got a MiBox to replace my FireStick and was sad to see that the Play Store has an extremely limited selection of apps

I tried using apks like Aurora to install apps like UKTV Play, ITV Hub, 4OD and Five On Demand but they're really clunky to use and at times don't work at all...so I was wondering if there was a way to transfer the apks from FireStick to AndroidTV

Or better yet, a way to install the full Fire TV app store onto the Mi Box so that I can keep them updated and install them easier

I actually wrote up a brief guide on this exact thing in another comment just the other day. You can find it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ShieldAndroidTV/comments/b5sls0/transitioning_from_fire_tvcan_i_get_paid_apps/ejfrdqf/

Keep in mind that Fire TV apps may not work quite as designed on Android TV. Both are based on Android, but Amazon has their own APIs they layer on top of it. Most of them work fine, but some do have issues, and those issues can be showstoppers (for example, I tried to pull the Watch TCM app over from a Fire Stick to my Shield, and found that sign-in doesn't work properly).

You can install on both devices a file manager and log in with same account. You have to use apps that are compatible with Android tv. Some Android apps can work with mibox but you have to use mouse

I have good success using "apps to fire". Which means you put the apks you like on your android phone and then they can be transfered via your home wifi network direct to the firestick. I do this with all my iptv apks. I try it on my phone first. If I dont like it I dont transfer it. You can find Apps to Fire in the playstore.

Nope, nothing you can do. At least now you know why no one in it's right mind would exchange a Fire OS device for an Androidtv OS device.
