My Smart TV running Android OS not Android TV

I purchased this Smart TV and I only just realised after trying to use the android TV remote app that my TV isnt running Android TV, just Android OS. Bit annoyed but is there anything I can do? Like can I root my tv like my phone as they are just Android OS?

The OS theme they have put on the tv looks very early 2000's. Its horrible, I have put ATV Launcher on it, still though not very nice.
Is there anything I can do with the tv or just simply put up with it?

I bought the TV because it runs on 12v and its the only affordable 32" 12v TV have found.

I hope you didn't pay that much for it. Honestly just buy a MI box / shield

There won't be much you can do other than play around with launchers.

Would power constraints let you use a Chromecast or Firestick?
