Why even have this app if every time I use it the next time that I turn on the MiBox it says I am connected to WiFi but that I have no internet access.. Anyone else run into these kind of issues? And if so what has been your solution?

I use Express VPN on the MiBox 3 too. I also had the same problem of connected to WiFi but not internet access. I am not sure though if both problems are correlated. I think the problem of no internet access is because for some reason the MiBox 3 was resetting the date to 1st Jan 2017.
The newest update seems to have fixed this problem though.
Always disconnect the VPN before you turn off the Mi Box.
