Man, screw this. I'm so done with Google and their piss-poor treatment of Android as an ecosystem. They failed at tablets, are hanging by threads in Android Wear/Wear OS, failed with project Treble, Android Things, Android One, Go, etc, and now ads on Android TV.

Google needs to get its fucking shit together, for real. It's 2019, and they STILL struggle to get BASIC THINGS DONE like polishing Android, getting updates on time, etc. The very fact that they're teasing Android Q and the overwhelming majority are on Oreo still is damning as a company. Their lack of commitment to a system and sense of organization is fucking tiring already. And yet, with all of these problems, they throw in ads on their already dwindling Android TV user base. I'm so done.

I have the offensive promoted channel bar on Oreo Sony 65x900F. So offensive I factory reset the TV and DID NOT log into gmail google account. Using Apple TV4K and Roku, manually updating Sony Apps. Done with Google/ Android. The TV is great.

How they failed in Project Treble? The Android Q GSI is out, if your set is Treble compatible then you can flash stock And Android Q right now. You will lose your custom features though.

If your refering to adds on the home screen you can easily disable them. Atleast on my 3 different android tv devices.

Android tv actually has a rapidly increasing market share and is for from dwindling.
