Roku vs WebOS?

by kevzz01

Deciding whether to get an LG with WebOS or a TV with built in Roku. There is one app that I really want on Roku and not sure if the Lg webOS have it. Does the WebOS have some list of apps somewhere like Roku? I’ve been googling but couldn’t find any. If there’s anybody here that owns an LG with WebOS, I’d really like to know if you can get TFC.tv app from the store.

No other streaming platform has the amout of apps that roku does so for me it's an easy choice roku, that said buying a TV for the smarts isn't ideal manufactures many stop updating the TV let alone the OS at anytime. There is less chance of this with the roku TV since it's really got a roku device built in. My stock advice for TV buying is get the best picture for your budget and don't worry about the smarts you can and most likely will need to add a streaming device anyway.

Why are you asking here?

For sure ask about webos and Roku on the Android TV subreddit.

Get the LG TV and a Roku box. In general smart TVs have weak cpus but Webos have very little apps selection but LG will have a better picture than a Roku TV. Now I have a LG OLED with Dolby Vision and Atomos only a Apple TV box will support both format's but limited apps that I use. I have a shield No DV support but HDR so I use the LG TV for apps that support Dolby Vision like Netflix's and Vudu but for everything else I end up using the Nvidia Shield.

Get the TV with the better picture and audio quality. You can always but a streaming device and it will be way cheaper than a new TV

I own 2 Roku Ultra's and a Streaming Stick+. I installed the Sharp 50" w/ built in Roku in my office yesterday. Something I never thought I would do. Roku performs superbly on the Sharp. Yes, I do have it hard-wired (which, in my opinion is the only way to do Roku).

For the price @ Best Buy, you can't beat this TV. It has a nice bezzle, and the picture is great for a 50" TV @ $299.
