TV will recognize some USB drives but not others

by bh-alienux

All drives I've tried are formatted as FAT32. Some are recognized by the TV, others are not.

  • Drives 4GB or smaller seem to be recognized and work fine
  • It seems that anything bigger than 4GB will not be recognized.
  • With a drive that doesn't work, if I go into Storate & Reset, it shows the drive as a "generic" drive and says that the drive has been safely ejected, almost as if it mounts it and ejects it immediately, and no apps (Video or Kodi) can see content.

I'm guessing that it's because it's not mounting or leaving it mounted, but this again only appears to happen on drives larger than 4GB.

Does anybody know what's going on with this? I've found some posts where others have reported the same issue, but never with a solution or explanation.

What is your TV?

Try to change MBR partition to GPT, vice versa, also try to connect devices via powered USB-hub.

Tv must be running a 32 bit OS
