How do you cover up and clean your TV ?

by rusty_vin

I recently bought a new Android tv. I live in a place where dust sets in just a few days. While Im told tv units and peripherals usually do not require any cleaning as such , and not advisable to cover it up if its in daily use. Suggestions are welcome.

Wipe the dust once or twice per week?

So I am in the middle of a major house remodel and have drywall dust all over. For my TVs, I cover them during the day with Plastic Tarps, you can buy them from any hardware for for $1 per tarp.

Clean Micro fiber cloths work the best for cleaning the screen.

I have young kids and occasionally they will touch the screen which makes me cry.

I posted over in AVS forums how to address those and a streak free- LCD Gel cleaner was recommended like:

Do not spay it on the screen, spray a tiny bit on a clean micro fiber cloth, then clean the areas that are dirty. Less is more when using this.

Hope that helps.

I let the dust settle for a few years and then wipe it off when it becomes unbearable. It's not that big of a deal. Not like the TV will stop working if you don't clean it.

I think OP is trying to cover up TV every night as to avoid dust settling on his precious TV. If that is the case please seek some help as this is not normal. Dust will always be an issue no matter where you live. Don't over indulge in the stupid things in life. Unsure if it was hard for you to purchase this TV and you just want to take care of it because of limited funds. If your still crazy about covering it up just grab a soft blanket and call it a day.

If I see my sound bar is dusty, I'll clean that and the TV.

I use a microfiber towel for both. For the TV, if I see any smudges, I'll use a bit of distilled water.

Bucket of goats milk and a chamois does the job for me.

Don't cover it if it's powered on. It needs ventilation. I dust once a week with a microfiber duster.

Awhile back i opened my gen 1 shield that I'd had for 3 years and it surprisingly was virtually dust free inside.

Maybe use the box more. The dust will be no more.
