Best Option for Me?

by r3gam

Above average technical literacy but novice level comprehension of Android TV boxes, so here I wander...

Of the three which would be the best option for me: Plex, Kodi or Xiaomi Mi Box? Or any others that spring to your mind

MAIN things I'm looking for: one time payment instead of monthly subscription (up to $150), access to popular and new movies.

Extras that would take it over the top: live sports and TV

Not too demanding in terms of technical specifics, as long as it streams at a 1080rate I'm fine

Also, I'm based in Canada if that matters

You need to go there step by step then!

First thing you need to figure out is what hardware you need to get:

So you need to choose between Amazon Fire TV , Nvidia Shield, MiBox,

and lots more... The choice will depend on your needs and the price you

are whiling to pay for it.

Then you will need the software and you will see that you will not need much!

Kodi is a must have (its a media player and server) and to stream from your pc

or NAS you will need a server like (Plex, emby or even kodi again). The servers

will allow you to stream your own movies on network to your box.

And finally to have access to content you don't own, you will need a subscribtion

like (iptv, netflix, amazon prime, ...etc) You will choose that also depending on what

you need to watch and the price.

So for now just brows and checkout different "Android TV Boxes" and see if there is

one that you like more then others.
