Hi all -- The Sony Android TVs say that they have Chromecast built in. I'm not clear on the difference between the two. Is Chromecast just the ability to cast videos from YouTube from your phone to the TV? Is there more to it? Thanks.

Android TV is a complete interface and OS. There's an app store and you have a remote control and you can browse stuff.
Chromecast is a HDMI dongle that lets you "push" the content from your device to the TV screen. The device in your hand still has total control.
Now if you have an Android TV, why would you care about there being a chromecast built-in? Well because not everything that supports chromecast supports Android TV as well. That's slowly changing as more and more native apps are being developed but it's slow. Take for instance the ABC and SBS tv stations here in Australia. They've only recently (in the last few months) developed Android TV apps but they've had chromecast support for years.
That being said, chromecast "built-in" is not always 100% compatible with a genuine chromecast. Most of the time it's fine but sometimes there are quirks depending on the app.
The Chromecast works better with Google Assistant, and also can be used to group your TV with a Google Home.
Android TV is better for a TV that doesn't have a good OS for apps.
Chromecast needs a computer or a phone as the source.
AndroidTV does not.
Chromecast is a protocol that allows you to cast videos from any supported app (including Youtube, but also many others) to your TV. Google sells Chromecast devices that do this exclusively, but they also have Chromecast Built-In, which runs on Android TV devices and several varieties of smart TV. This basically gives you all the capabilities of a Chromecast device without actually needing a separate device.
Chromecast isn't the only way to do casting, of course; Apple has their own protocol called Airplay, and Roku devices (as well as several smart TVs) support an open standard called DIAL.

Android TV os is the Google official operating system specially designed for TV.
Chromecast is a highlight of Android TV OS, you can cast your favorite entertainment apps— movies & TV shows, music, games, sports and more— from your Android or iOS device, Mac or Windows computer, or Chromebook to the TV.
There is no difference with functionality but chromecast is quick with updates. Cast app in TV also gets updates but maybe they have some limitation of software . I haven't noticed any difference but chromecast is little quick to respond to your phone input.
Android TV is the operating system that the TV uses - Chromecast built-in is a feature of the Android TV os that is similar to a Chromecast- and yes it allows you to cast/send videos music photos Etc to the TV
