Assuming that remote is bluetooth, I'd look for bluetooth in settings/apps and clear the data from it and restart the box. You can install the android tv remote app on your phone or tablet to control it in the meantime.
Lastly, I'd try factory resetting the Jetstream. Third party remotes will almost never be an upgrade.
On the Mi Box you hold the Back and Home buttons down simultaneously to re-pair the remote.
There must be a similar combo on the Jetstream remote ?
Otherwise try turning WiFi - OFF and the ON in Android settings.
Just get this remote and call it a day
